4020 Front End

I have a early 4020 that I am having problems keeping the bolts in the center steering arm tight. After some research I found out I have a Schwartz Case style center arm, not the round JD type, the spindles and front end is getting loose. I use the loader for round bales, and bucket work. Has anybody switched out to a heavier JD front end or the 1370 front end? What salvage yards do I need to contact? Thanks for any info.

Several of those tractors have been switched out to heavier frt. ends off of bigger tractors.

Ours has a JD frt. end that has held up well. The aftermarket JD look alike frt. ends I think are copied from JD and the center casting is heavier made.

Those Swartz ones are too light made for a loader.

I have a case 1370 wide front just taken off a 4020. If you're interested send me an email. I can email you some pictures.

We have a 1971 4020 with a 158 loader over the past 25 years we have put the factory JD front end through a LOT of abuse, last sping after breaking the center frame, a 4430 conversion kit was purchased from Anderson Tractor Parts near Bluffton Ohio best thing you can do to 'end' front end problems, there phone # is419-358-8846

I have a swartz on my 4020 with a loader. Never had a problem with bolts but once. This was after I rebuilt hyd pump and had to remove bolts. There are both light and heavy front end models for JD swartz's. Not sure why your having bolts that won't stay tight.
