4020 - safety

Got to thinking after reading a post about a fellow that was killed when his 4020 with a canopy (ROPS) rolled over. I remembered that I had a couple of seat belts out of a GTO laying on the shelf. In the back of the seat on the 4020 there are two 5/16" bolts that hold the backrest. I bought a couple of grade 8 bolts and bolted the seat belt to them and put nuts on for extra protection. Although both my 4020 and 2520 have different seats that don't use these holes, I would think it would work with a backrest bolted in too. All the belt has to do is hold your weight if the tractor rolls - don't take that much. Not like a high speed front end collision.

The belts work great. They look factory other than they are black and say "Body by Fisher" on the buckle! A ROPS needs a seat belt.

There is a growing list of fellows I knew that did not use these things. The most recent was one of my old vo-ag instructors a couple of years ago. {Accident near Marshfield, Missouri}
