I am beginning restoration on a 1950 JD styled B. It has a narrow front end with a 15" wheel with a volkswagen!!!! tire on one side and a 16" wheel with a car tire on the other. Which size wheel is correct? 15" or 16"? (I plan to put tractor tires on it, not VW).
Thanks

If you're restoring, you want to use original type wheels which were part number JD 1268 R and mounted 5.50-16 4 ply tires. I would suggest you try to use these wheels if you can possibly get them and mount the proper size tires to retain the orginal look for you B. Mount the wheels to obtain the narrowest tread position possible, your tractor will look best with this configuration. In restoration orginality is essential for authenticity.

To one George from another, if you are going to restore your B go w/what Ellis said. If the 16" rim is non-slotted(wheel-disc-slotted wheeles will have 4 like the farm store wheels will, farm store wheeles will be 4 1/2" to 6" in width, also slotted 16" wheeles were used on A's from 1940-46.)clean it up if possible and try to find a mate. gwh

Thanks for all the answers! I can get new cream color painted wheels (about $50 each) and Titan brand tires (about $50 each)from my local tire & repair shop. I will then use scuff pads to rough up the paint a little on the wheels and then paint them the proper color. Tye, I live near the sleepy town of Greensboro on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

My "B" has 5.00x15 although that's on a early styled tractor.

Front wheels should be Part # JD1268R 16 inch 6 bolt 4 inch wide rim. Tires are 3 rib 5.50 x 16
4 or 6 ply. Still available in Firestone, Titan
Etc. Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure it should have 16 in. wheels. I don't know the wheel width right now. Original tire size was 5.50 x 16. You can get 6.00 x 16 New Firestone's from Millertire.com
