What problems have you had? Cutter bar? Gearbox? I need to know how much slop should be in between the cutter heads, are they all driven from one end? Or both ends? Got it home and conditioner did not work. Chain drive with shear bolt. Local ARCO dealer could get parts. Got shear bolts at $3.00 a piece. Mower would not ever get up to speed and it would shear the bolt. Pulled side cover and all bearing were gone plus side cases filled with water. Ordered part manual and operator gude (barely understandable) very vauge. 4 bearings, seals, 1 adj arm, o-rings, gaskets for a cost of $600.00 for this small box of parts. Calls for type-0 simifluid grease at $4.00 pint. Replaced grease with JD cornhead grease at $65.00 per 5 gallon. Could only find blades at ARCO @ $36.00 per set. Was a real pain to replace the bearings. Had to pull off conditioner rollers and found out steel roller was bent. New roller $4000.00. Did NOT get new roller and just put it back together. Doesn't condition very well. I suspect it will wear out the new bearings in a while. When it does I will pull off the rollers and just use it as a cutter, the cutter bar seems to be all right. New disks at ARCO are $65.00 each. Have only cut a few acres with it but it seems to do OK. Kind of babying it so nothing else will break. Hope this helps. Let me know how you do! I am looking at a DA sm60 that is in great shape. I got behind on first cutting and have some tall grass left that would take me a week to do with my NH 489. Beyond that I figure that this machine should help me out for a year or so. What can I expect of the DA sm 60? Are there any parts sources other than AGCO? I do not think power will be an issue. I have an old Case 1030 that should have power to spare for a mower. I never ran a disc mower before. Any suggestions will be appreciated.   [Reply]  [No Email]

Original style discs no longer available and now use part PZDZ0695($160). The bad thing about it is you have to by blade holders seperate PZDZ0777($35 each 2 per disc). New blad change tool $60. If anything major goes wrong it might be better to junk than fix. One I am working on against better judgement is D-A SM70RC and flying by seat of my pants, no book, documentation, etc. Got it cheap and figured even if I spend money on discs it might be worth it, gears and chains ok. Haven't ran it, yet waiting on oil seal from dealer, but easy to turn by hand. Hope this might help.   [Reply]  [No Email]

Looks like someone was doing some rock farming with it. Bar and crimper seem to be in decent working condition, bearings look good, etc. In your post you refer to ARCO dealer. Who is this? Only thing I can find in southwest MO is an AGCO dealer who wants $160 per disc. Do you have part numbers for disc. I know that it is same as Hesston 1060. Went to Deutz dealer and talked to them and found out that AGCO bought out deutz hay equipment few years back and still has rights to keep parts from being imported. After hearing how AGCO treats small dealers I would love to keep my business from them if I have any option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   [Reply]  [No Email]
