deeiche 03-03-2013 07:32:15 68.35.148.145 Report to Moderator	Howdy I just bought a White Oliver 720 for scrap value, it supposedly was running good before the pickup side axle broke. They tell me a wheel bearing had not been greased, and when it failed it severely scored the axle, eventually causing the axle to fail. If anyone know a good place for used Oliver implement parts I'd sure like the the info. I know it's the same as a Hesston 4500, but figured I'd look for a used axle before going to AGCO for a replacement axle. Last resort I'll go to a friend with a welding shop, and get it repaired. However he suggested I try to find a replacement as this one is snapped all the way through. thanks [Reply]   [No Email]

JimIA 03-05-2013 13:46:36 208.74.246.171 Report to Moderator	Re: Oliver 720 baler, looking for replacement axle in reply to deeiche, 03-03-2013 07:32:15   I have learned that its best to start by seeing what a new part would cost first and for several reasons. 1-to see if it is still available. 2-if it is available see what the cost is, this gives you a way to value a used part. 3-if the price of a new one is cheap enough you dont have to waste any time building a new one or finding a used one. Working as a parts man I have seen many times where the customer spent $50 on building a part when the OEM was $10. OEM parts are occaisionally decently priced. They drill each end of the brake and threaded a threaded rod into it. Then ground around the outside and welded it. Then ground it smooth were they welded it. It cost me 60 bucks and Has held up so far. [Reply]  [No Email]

The Case is roughly a foot long and goes thru a hole in the cross beam and secured with a 5/8 bolt thru the inner end. I have some spares of these with the hub and bearings. [Reply]  [No Email]
