The original subject was "IH 56 corn planter 12 r 20, 10 r 24?". Hello! Back again with harvest out of the way and the shop nearly cleaned ou, I have decided to start this project. Has any one tried this before? Still looking at wheel configurations. I think i can drive the shafts for fertilizer and planting units with common roller chain off the narrow hubs.I found 2 and might try to make 2 more with gears on them. I did realise I need new or good used fertilizer augers, if any one has a source for those augers that came in the steel fretilizer hoppers please let me know, I will need 4 augers from 6 row planters. Maybe, you could fab'd a shaft for to replace the tensioner, you might get it to drive the fert auger. I see no reason you couldn't have the two driving a common shaft. Well as long as you are not doing sharp turns. Just watch the direction of the drive system. [Reply]  [No Email]

If it is corn you would increase your yeilds more by going with a newer planter on 30 inch rows that has better seed placement than trying to use that old planter in 20" rows.
