When did White start and stop making plows for Case? I have a Case model 400 6x18 onland hitch plow. And when I bought it I thought it was the same as a White 588, because it had a 6 in. by 8 in. backbone main frame. But now after researching it, it might be a White 549 as the fore and aft measurement is 34. 5 in. A 588 should be 38.5 in. The vertical clearance is 32 in. and I believe that is the same as a 588. It plows unchopped corn stalks under perfectly. Are the springs, bottoms and other parts the same as a 588?

Thanks in advance.

When IH decided to merge with Teneco the company that owned case IH was still making and selling there own plows now days you can't hardly find a new plow Arts Way bought the IH line of plows a while ago just how long ago I don't know but looks pretty much the same.

Case was buying tillage equipment from White, Amco, Glenco,Landoll, and Hutchmaster, until about 83 when the roumors were circulating amongst dealers that Case was buying out IH.
The pic. of the 1494 (with White built, Case labled 308 plow was on the cover of Case lit. form #A61783H-1, published Aug. of 1983.

White built plows for Case and Ford at the same time. I think they stopped around 1980. The Case 400 plows were about the same as the White 549 (16" or 18" bottoms). The Case 500 was about the same as the White 588 (18" or 20" bottoms).

Back in the 70s White made 2 way plows for Case and
Ford. They were the same plow. There are a couple of
those 'round here that have 4 colors on them.Oliver
green,White red,Case orange,Ford blue.Most of those
'old' plows have been scrapped, parted out, etc.
