When you are going to use it the next season all you do is drop the plow in the ground and go. If you want to make it a little easier spray wd40 on the plow before starting. [Reply]  [No Email]

Have used, used motor oil but might wash off in the rain if stored outside. Cheap spray paint if stored outside for more then one season. [Reply]  [No Email]

It would last over a season if the cows did not lick it off. Now I use graphite paint. [Reply]  [No Email]

After the second can spraying all over me as I sprayed/painted I had enough and went back to good old implement grease..just 20 pumps per bottom and a pair of old cloth gloves. I don't attempt to cover the plow shares all the way down. However, I store my plows undercover, as it keeps the trip mechanisms and pivots from rusting/seizing up and deteriorating. And keeping ultraviolet rays off the tail wheel keeps the rubber in good shape for many years. [Reply]  [No Email]

Rain didn't even seem to wash it off. Dad used the last of it over 30 yrs ago. In the more recent past I used plow kote and since have gravitated to just cheap black spray paint from the hardware store with satisfactory results. [Reply]  [No Email]

It lasts for years even if the plow is stored outside. I once had a 3-14 plow that was stored outside for several years and it scoured right off once put in the ground. Al [Reply]  [No Email]

Sold by the gallon, TSC, maybe Agrisupply.com. It is a creosote looking soft tar or wax coating that scours off real easy. [Reply]  [No Email]
DeltaRed 10-22-2012 19:08:22 67.6.219.50 Report to Moderator	Re: plow in reply to ed dornbush, 10-22-2012 18:31:05   'Gun'grease can dry out over time.I use "Soft plow coating' in an aerosol can from My John Deere dealer.Scours off completely in one round.Tryed something different(from here-YT)this spring....Place several chuncks of asfault in some gasoline,let 'soak'for a little while.Apply the 'soup' with a paintbrush.The gas will evaporite leaving the 'tar'.Seems to last well.
