super99 10-19-2012 18:55:56 74.32.186.214 Report to Moderator	Any ideas for a downspout on a 10" auger?? I was at an auction and bought a Mayrath 10"X70' auger for $250. Problem is, my bin is only 6 rings (5000 bu)and the angle of the diverter at the end of the auger will not even hit the hole on my bin. It needs a LONG downspout or about a 45° elbow to turn it down enough to even hit the hole in the roof. It's WAY bigger than I need, a 8"X60' would work much better. Any ideas??? Also remove the handles. Then take two pieces of 1/4 inch chain about five feet long. Take the first bucket and bolt the chain to each side with about two feet of slack chain above the bucket. Then take a second bucket and slide it up into the first bucket with about 4-5 inches of over lap. Just keep adding and bolting buckets until the string of buckets are as long as you need them. Then on your auger you can slide the first bucket over the factory spout. Then just bolt the chains together up over the top of the auger tube. So you end up with a deflector spout that will hang straight down regardless of the angle of the auger. Plus you can let the auger down a little and the buckets will just slide into each other and adjust to the length you need. Cost ten foot or so of 1/4 inch chain, a few used five gallon buckets and some bolts. The picture shows a factory made one using flat straps rather than chain. I like the chain better as it will give side ways as well as length ways. [Reply]  [No Email]
