Badger08 09-18-2012 20:09:23 204.248.117.40 Report to Moderator	A friend gave me this plow. I want to use it to do some plowing this fall and get it set up, then work on restoring it this winter. Trouble is while he had it and was plowing his garden he hit something hard and it unhooked but the rope tied to his seat didn't and he said it broke something. Well I can see where the cast piece is broken. Went and looked at a part's plow, same part I need, but broken too. Looked at a co-worker's two JD #52's and both of them are broke in the same spot too, so what gives? The co-workers plow, one lifts most of the time but not all the time, the other one doesn't lift hardly at all he says. It's part #D882-A, page 18 in the part's manual. If anyone has a picture from their plow with this not broken, I would like to see it! Thanks! [Reply]   [No Email]

The previous, previous owner had taken the furrow steel wheel and cut it off and put it on rubber. So I found a steel wheel and put it back on full steel. So then I thought I might as well try it out even though getting dark. I tied a string onto the clutch lever and ran it through the loop on one of the levers and to the tractor and attached it with a piece of wire. And sure enough I made a round and was turning around and the dang thing unhooked and the wire trick worked and it simply just pulled the rope outta the wire. Then just rehooked it and went. Other then that it worked fine. Now just to get it adjusted up right to ride in the furrow and get it leveled a little better and will do some plowing with this plow and my 44H. Thanks everyone! Brendon-KS 09-19-2012 18:40:53 63.245.190.37 Report to Moderator	Re: JD #52 - What should this part look like? in reply to Badger08, 09-18-2012 20:09:23   Just a little hint: When you do get it fixed up and working, tie the rope through the "eye" in a large hair pin cotter then just clip the pin onto the seat frame or anything else on the tractor. If the plow breaks loose the clip will just pop off and save damaging anything. [Reply]  [No Email]

So pulling the trip rope to hard breaks the casting huh? I will keep that in mind for when I get it fixed. No not really, many of them got broken by STRONG ARM farmers with little common sense.They thought they were pulling the plow with the trip rope instead of the tractor pulling the plow and because of that many got broken. What a shame, a lot of engineering and a lack of a little common sense. They are around in junk yards if you look a bit. This phone no if you really want one would probably have one to sell you.
