We took our John Deere 68 auger wagon apart to work on the augers and we are going to reflight them. My question is when putting it back together do the augers need to be timed in the transfer housing. We forgot to check flighting position before tearing it apart. How do you time them? I know in some combines it is important but not sure about a 150bu. graincart that we use for steer feed. The operaters manuel says nothing about it and it is to old for a service book or maybe to simple. |

| Timing would be that as one auger feeds into another, the receiving auger flight is in position to receive as the first one discharges. I typically double flight all augers that I work on- just get identical (pitch, rotation, diameter) flighting and double up for a couple feet. Picture it as two scoop shovels grabbing the grain instead of one, on each revolution. No need to double flight the entire length- once inside the tube, the single flighting will carry the grain. It"ll make a 7 inch auger carry as much as an 8 inch- BTDT multiple times. |
