I have a 479 New Holland haybine that I have owned and used since 1989. I bent the tongue. A neighbor has a 469 and it looks VERY similar to my 479. The local New Holland dealer says parts won't interchange. It still looks the same to me. Could he be wrong? Could the parts interchange? Although it is missing some parts on the wobble shaft my neighbor only wants $250 for it. If some or most of the parts would interchange I would be interested.

It is NOT the same. The back is a different length. You maybe able to get it to work with some blue wrenching and welding. Why not just fix the old one??? I have straighten many a NH haybine tongue. They usually bend right in front of the tongue latch. Most of the time I just cut them right at the bend. Removed the bent section and welded a new piece of tube back in with a few gussets on each side. Then you are good to go.

Big difference was that the 479 had a simplified pto shaft assembly. I don't know about the tongue, but a little measureing should tell if they will interchange. KEH

if you go to new holland's website, you can look at the parts diagrams for yourself. I'll bet a lot of the parts interchange, but I've never had a 469.- Morgan
