I took the head off the 892 this last weekend and got to looking at the gearbox so I know what I'm in for. does it even have a drain plug? Or do I have to split it to get the old oil out?

No manuals yet but definitely gonna get some soon.

Got your email but after looking at the book it doesn't have what you need.

As far as the oil mine uses 80w90 gear oil but others may be different. A suction gun would work if you just need to change the oil. By the way which corn head did you get with it?

I have a service manual for an 892 that I got in a binder at a dealer sale this spring. I will take $25 for it and will cover postage. My email is ihman73@yahoo.com

There's 2 1/4 pipe plugs somewhere on the front or
side of the gear box. One for checking and filling
and a drain near the bottom. Uses Dextron 3 ATF.

You noticed that too huh? If it doesn't have a drain plug I can easily add one if I need to open it up.

I got to thinking about this when you needed to get that hydraulic oil out of the 1600 Don. Maybe you need to invest in a little pump that runs off an electric drill or something so you can just drop a hose in to things like this and pump the oil out.
