Does anyone have good info on the current costs and reliability of drum mowers? The Kuhn PZ, Reese, CCM? |

| I have a CCM 165, have had it for at least 4 years, only parts I have put in it are blades, and 1 grease fitting. I need to get a new drive shaft cover soon, but as it is made of plastic, and not a vital part, i intend to put it off till it finally shreds. Skirt has a little wear, rope that is in the bottom of the rag has been cut, or wore through, both front and back. Make sure your tractor is heavy enough, for the size of machine you get. The 165 only needs 27 HP, but tractor should be about 4K lbs, to hang it high in transport position. It was about $3K +/- when I bought it. |

| | I bought a 6' drum recently from SFI for about $3600. Works very well and have a 2 year warranty. Blades from him are $1 each, 2 sided so you can swap them and use the other side. Dealership is in Central TX. and he has a www. Mark |

| Get at least a 165... I have a 135 and am finding out parts are much more expensive than for the more common 165's......
You'll wonder how you ever got by without one.....
2 tips... and I swear I didn't do it. A buddy did after I told him not to.
1) don't engage PTO in transport position
2) wait til EVERYTHING stops turning befor swinging from mow to transport position.
And
3) Get one that has the most common (read cheap) knives and quick change (no bolts, just a lever you put in place and lift.
CCM seem to sell pretty well here.
Have fun. |

| I bought the CCM 190 mower 2 months ago. Cost me $3600 plus $250 to ship from KY to Illinois. I used to use a sickle haybine. Happy day was on Monday when I towed it to the scrapper. Very pleased with the drum.
Reese would have been around $6K...
