anyone ever build a 3 pt hitch for their old drag section harrow.
found a few pictures of some on the internet.
looks like the green one is hooked up backwards, spikes point toward the tractor, all i have ever seen the spikes point away from the tractor.

wonder if any of you had other ideas on making the hitch and lift system for the old drag harrow. I need to transport the harrow about a mile to my other truck patch-garden.

I guess the red neck way of transporting the drag harrow would be to hook it to the hitch on my TO-35 then use my boom pole and lift it off the ground. That would work, but not look to cool.

Thanks,

I tried to make one kind of like the red one. Mine was too floppy; I think the two chains supporting each section is better than my design (one solid iron rod).

We transport our 4 section with a 3 point stack mover. Back the mover under the center sections then fold the outer ones over on top (the evener is hinged). Pick up and go. Leave the stack mover on the tractor when harrowing.

Got 2 of 'em over here in a fence row, very similar to the red one; built 'em sometime in the early '60s probably; quit using 'em when we bought our first do-all.

That green one has about 10 things wrong with it, but if a farn-intelligent person had it could be a nice rig.

Of course, turn the drag sections around, sheez. :)

It's way too close to the tires, should be lout a foot or so.

It will have way too much weight on the front bar. You need some chain from that havy bar to suspend the sections, you may want a fairly light evening board that smushes up lumps, but it can't be very heavy - like a 2x8 or similar weight pipe.

If it would have had some experience and better thought behind it, that green one would be nice.

Actually, your pole would be best as far as results, a harrow should be allowed to flop around loose on the ground, the pole is only there to lift it.

ive not built one but i need to (thanks for the pictures).angle of tines is adjustable, further forward gives better penetration, busting of clods etc, pointing to the rear gives more of a leveling effect.
