I have spent 4 hours online looking for the spool bearings for my disc.
I called the local massey dealer and they said they could no longer get them. I saw a few after market ones online but, I am not sure if they will fit. There are 3 of the boxings that are loose. The top to bottom clearence is about 1/4 " and 1/8 " front to back. I am not sure at what point they should be replaced.I am not sure what the clearence should be when they are new? I was told in an earlier post that I should offer to pay when asking for someone for help or (doing my work for me) I would be glad to pay for help or advice if need be . So if someone knows where I can get replacement parts or the clearence on the boxings for a massey ferguson model 25 disc could you please let me know? Or should I grease them and use it .
Thanks Jim

Main thing was people asking for copies of manuals that have to be copied and then mailed incuring expence for copying and postage to mail to the person with the manual. Some manuals to send copies by email may take 2-3 hours to scan them and then time to email them and that is asking a lot from a stranger. Simple questions and the like on here no one is expected to be paid for that what can be put in a post. If that manual that they want scaned and mailed is 60 pages long and it costs $.10 per page and then postage at around $3.00 estimated you see where it would ad up and where some would like their costs covered. Me I cannot scan and email. I have sent out a lot of copies over the years and just asked to be covered for my expences that include what the copy shop charges including sales tax, mailing supplies and postage, nothing in it for me but just not laying out money that I do not have.

I would never expect someone to get there manual out and scan it for me or run copies and mail it to me for free. I read in other post where people offered to e-mail a copy of the manual I need to anyone in need of one. I thought there might be several electronic copies out there and someone would not mind taking time to e-mail me one as I would do for someone else if I had one. I tried to find one to buy befor I came here looking for one. A parts manual is all I could find for sale.

There are two versions of the 25 an early and late. I'm not sure which you have. I just purchased the early version bottom block (662047m1 and spool 662048m2) but the top block (662046m2) is no longer availiable. i bought two bottoms and welded an offset boss for the mounting to the support assy. It's not pretty but it works. partslist and exploded views are availiable @ www.arcoparts.com.

I think my disc is the older version . All the boxings have been replaced
at some point but half of them have wear in them. I greased them and I am going to use it for now but I would like to get new spools for it.
How can you tell if it has new or old style boxings? I got part no. from agco site for the new style spools and called a massey dealer and he told me that they are no longer available. How much did the spools and bottom bearing block you bought cost from massey? I think if I could get new spools I could mill a little off both bearing blocks and rebore the hole. I think that would last a while with what I am doing with it.
I also over sized the holes in the linkage and made new bushings to fit with new bolts and made a few new pins. That got rid of a lot of slop in it. The two front gangs will still rub each other some times if they a angled all the way.

Quick way to tell "newer" from "older" style....Old style uses a round pipe for the bar where scrapers are mounted. Newer style uses angle iron bracket.

I've seen older disc's with cast iron boxings run forever with wear clearances that were simply incredable! Pump 'em full of grease and go on with life.

I've also seen several "fixed" by wrapping the spool with a bit of leather, then re-assemble, grease, and go. That fix has been known to tighten up the slack for years.

That was (is?) the beauty of cast iron boxings....They can be used with tremendous wear and still be used. A roller bearing that slack would self destruct far earlier.
