Valby 150 Chipper belts

I have a valby PTO chipper which has 4 belts that drive the rotor, 150 & up use this to kick up the speed. Anyone replace the belts? Did you use belts from auto parts or get them from a valby dealer. Only dealer I have found is one in NY & Iowa, both closed for holiday weekend.

when I looked at replacement belts for my Vermeer 1600, was advised to buy a matched "belt set", these belts are from same manufacturing batch and will be tied together, will wear/stretch the same so one belt doesn't take all the load, translation = hand them your wallet

my Vermeer had 4 v-belts built into underside of a wide flat belt, neat design but price of replacement was stunning, I lenthened belt adjustment slots a bit and then took it real easy on the belt

I have been looking at direct drive Wallenstein BX62, seems your belt drive rotor spins faster but adds complications, are you happy with your machine

The Valby chipper belongs to a friend of mine, he picked it up in a trade about 10 years ago. It hasn't been used in 7 or more years. It worked great until I stopped up the chute by getting to close to a tree limb. From what I have read on the internet never let the chute get clogged or over drive it, you will break the belts. The chipper works great for grinding up tree limbs. The chipper is well built, the weak point is the belts. Bill

thank you for the info

I think Hud-Son north of Utica, NY is/was Valby dealer, their website shows exact same Valby ads but now use the Farmi name on the machine
