I am replacing a damaged drive belt on a PT-10 and I noticed the tentioner is bulging out and appears to be damaging the belt. I was able to order the parts and am wondering how to release the tention on the cables that distribute the pressure on both sides of the top roller. |

Hal VT said: (quoted from post at 14:04:23 11/04/09) If you have the newer model with the cables on the top, on the right hand side just above the rollers is a big shaft with a nut on it, maybe 1 1/8". Turning that counterclockwise loosens the cables.
If it hasn't been moved in 20 years you may have to remove the tin shield over the spring, get a pipe wrench or something on the nut, and use heat and your favorite brand of goose grease to get the it loose. You can see the shield from the back, bolted up underneath the top cover over the rollers.
Post back about how you make out. |
Thanks a bunch and it is right where you said. I got home late so I just juiced it up and wetted down all the wasp nest!
Another question, what is the easiest thing to take off to get the belt on over the pitman arm? |
