I have a old Lely spin spreader that the paddles on the plate are rusted off. Other than that it is in good shape. How can you take the plate off ?

I guess that I can't really help you! I am familiar with the Model HR's, but it would seem that you have something different that I'm not familiar with! :? Sorry 'bout that!

Good Luck, Dave

Hey Sheepdog, It is a Lely. We have had it 40 years. The ejector disc has 4 spoons welded on it and I was thinking about buying 1 from agri supply and putting it on mine because the come is in perfect shape. Looking down in the hopper, it has a tear drop flat metal agitator that fits over the shaft that goes through ejector disc (has a hole throught the shaft and agi. disc). I see no set screws or anything that would hold the agitator on top. Could it be pressed on ?

Aowner,

Are you SURE that you have a Lely spreader? When you say 4 paddles you make me think that it's NOT a Lely! They typically have 6 long curved spoons (paddles) on the spinner disc. Also the shaft doesn't go through the disc on any of the Lelys I've seen.

Check out this website for Lely spreaders! They've got pictures of the disc and paddles, etc.

Sorry, You'll have to enter the web address yourself, as I don't know how to link it!

Hey Sheepdog, I have looked up from the bottom and don't see anytype of set screws. The slinger with the 4 paddles has a bolt through the gearbox shaft that I removed, but still don't see any type of screws.

Should be 3 cap screws from the bottom up into the disc! Back them out and give the disc a light thunk with a hammer! it should pick right off!

I've got 3 Lely HR's in various states of repair, and manage to keep 1 working by cannibalising the other 2!

Your talking about a cone shaped 3 pt. spreader I presume. The agitator in the bottom of the cone will have to come off. If its real old, it is pressed on and will probably have to be cut off, newer models should have some type of set screw. Good luck due to most people spreading fertilizer and washing out with a water hose when done causing it to rust.
