Does anybody out there have information about what happened/who bought out the Heider Mfg Company? I would like to know where I could get a parts book or operators manual or who carries parts for the Heider auger wagons. I live in Minnesota. Thank you for your time and help!!

Scranton mfg. of Scranton, IA bought the rights to the Heider products when they closed.

Heider continued to manufacture barge wagon boxes in Carroll into the 1970's. I helped install a paint booth inside the plant in 1974. I think they closed in the later 1970's or early 1980's. On October 12, 2009 the City Council voted to move the city library into the former Heider Mfg. building.

I can't tell you who bought Heider out, or who has the company records. Maybe the Carroll County Historical Museum can help you (712) 792-1582. I think they still have a running Heider tractor on display at Swan Lake Park too.

Good luck.

You might try asking the caretaker of the Heider Tractors website if they have any information.

Well, I don't know if this will fully answer your question or not, but here's what I found for you.

The tractor division of the Heider Manufacturing Company was bought out by the Rock Island Plow Company in 1916. Then, in 1937, Rock Island Plow Company was purchased by the J. I. Case Company. (Source: 150 Years of JI Case by CH Wendel)

Now, I don't know if Case would have any information within their archives or not, or whether the wagon division went with the tractor division, but hopefully, this will give you a starting point for your research.

Good Luck!
