We finally got situated to install the 219 diesel in the late 45. We stuck it up there and bolted it in. It still needs another weekend of finishing up accessories like fuel lines, radiator hoses, and hood reinstalled. It looks like it's gonna work out just fine as a replacement for the 180 gas (some of you may remember I asked a while back whether or not it would work as a direct replacement for the 180 gas). The only real difference appears to be the height of the cylinder head. The diesel is a bit thicker which makes the whole setup just a bit taller. The engine lift eyelets may have to be removed to allow the hood to close. We also had to construct a couple pieces to allow the gas throttle control to operate the injection pump. The accessories also had to be swapped from the old 180 gas such as the water pump, alternator and such. Outside of those minor changes it seems to be a direct replacement for the 180 gas.Now that I've given an update; on to the real question... The seatback in the cab of this combine is in pretty bad shape. The mice/rats have torn a hole in it and removed most of the stuffing. The back is NLA from Deere and I cant seem to find an aftermarket supplier. Has anyone ever tried using a seatback off of a Dubuque Deere? I was thinking about possibly a 420/430 or possibly even a 1010? If I remember correctly they are flat like the 45 seat back. Anyone else found an acceptable replacement? |

| Check out 'Speer Cushion',Holyoke,Colorado. They make/sell cushions for all types of equipment, speciallizeing in farm equipment. They may even do 'custom work'.See if you have an (auto) upholsterer in your area. They can recover seats.I have had a local one do several tractor and ATV seats.Quality and price were both very satisfactory. | Thanks Delta! I called em up and ordered one. The nice lady told me that they have not sold one in years but were willing to make one to order. She said it should be delivered within 2 weeks. I went ahead and went for the cushion and back. |
