| Kent I wasn't being at all nasty about things, why do you choose to be? I was just noting that times have changed and at one time 20 men would have been kept well employed doing large acreage with the state of the art equipment of the day. For someone like myself who does only 5-8 acres or small grains a rig like that is a lot more sensible than one of those modern $500K space ships or waiting for the non existent custom combiners to finally get to you.
If you're having a bad day, sorry, but don't take it out on me. |

| Who owns 2 thousand acres? Look at it another way- to do your 2K acres, you'd have 20 men and machines employed for a good long time. Pro and con. |

| ya great idea the labor and cost to maintain all the units needed to get it out would eat up all that could be made on the crop. i have farmed that much land now retired you dont have a clue |

| I don't own a combine, yet, but that AC sure looks like what I need. That big green space ship looking thing? I couldn't even turn it around in some of my fields...or make the interest payment either! |

I bet it has to do with having to manually set up the machine. I just walked out in the neighbors soybeans cut with a JD 9600 I threw my calculating ring on the ground and say that he was leaving behind about 2 BPA Now that would more than pay for the fuel per acre he was running.......he never got out once to check what was being thrown out the back.......just came in the field and started to cutting.......didn't get out once...... |

| And when the big Deere breaks down in the middle of the field and the mechanic cant get to it for a day or so because he has 2 more in line ahead of you, the All Crop and that old JD will get the rest of the field done. |

| | That is a neat video. Im betting the 72 had a cleaner grain sample! All jokes aside, last year I was in line at the co-op unloading beans. I had the smallest wagon by 500 bu and had the cleanest grain sample by far. I had used our K Gleaner on the beans, in line was several samples from Deeres, Case IHs and one new Gleaner. For some reason the Deeres were a 1/8 full pods. The Gleaner and IHs had some stems and mine were almost perfectly clean. Whats wrong with this picture? |

|
| | Jim IA: The variety of soybean can make a big difference if there are pods in the bin. If the bean makes some late green beans in the top they will be heavy enough that they will end up in the bin. Also pods don't count as foreign matter. So those guy where actually ahead of you in that they got paid for those pods where you left all of yours in the field. |

| Maybe not everywhere but pods went into the FM can last I sold which was several years ago. Sample went over three sieves, the unders and overs plus anything the guy picked out of the beans by hand out = FM. Truth of that matter is no matter which way it is it doesnt make much differnce when you think about it. A wheel barrow full of dry bean pods might weigh what? 2 lbs, LOL. |
