| After thinking about it awhile, and talking with the service guy at deere (he didn't know, and couldn't find out from the book either) that's what I was thinking. Groove up would allow more oil to flow back in, i.e. when lowering the reel, and less oil pass when going out, i.e. raiseing the reel, because the flat side will seal somewhat against the fitting allowing oil to only pass thru the restrictor hole. Giving better control raising the reel at engine speed. Thanks Sideconsole4020guy.
