I need a switch for my Allis. It is an Indak without any I.D. on it but the patent number, which is 2868906. It has a 5 prong connection. I think it is pretty common, but there is a chance of getting the wrong one. Any suggestions where to get the correct one, new or used?

Thanks, Roy

i just got one for my simplicity, but i have transplanted a kohler twin magnum engine,,, still uses a magneto-grounding switch to kill,,, so i got a new switch off ebay for 6.95 +ship,,, look for the craftsman 4406r switch, i checked the cross -reference and it works for me,,,,it is an indak

LOOK for letters on each of the switch's terminals. match with the new switch. The 5 pin connector is widely used BUT how the switch is wired internally is not the same. If you get the wrong switch at the least, it will not work. At the worst it will not work and it will apply 12 volt to your magneto destroying the magneto.
Your Allis is a Simplicity. They used at least two with differing internal connection.

Napa has 2 different Indak switches that they normally carry. One is for a Mag type of ignition and one is for a 12V coil type of Ignition.

Thanks for sharing your knowlege.
I will try Napa tomorrow. I do dread asking them what the cost will be.
I was told that my mower was built in an Allis Chalmers factory and is not a Simplicity. They did use a number of common parts though.
Mine is a battery and coil ignition, no magneto.
My 2 old switches do not have terminal identification.
