I have a 17 hp kohler series 2 that keeps spitting out the front seal on the crank.. and before it did that it started to pump light oil into the air cleaner. |

| | Check that the crankcase breather is not plugged up but most likely your KT-17 is in need of a rebuild. I just did one for Dad from a 317 JD he bought for $20 at auction. The block had a "Window" in it that was easily repaired. I bore the jugs 10 over with the boring hone I have. Two 10 over piston are pricey at $168 from the Kohler dealer. Turned the crank 10 under, DO NOT do the main unless you absolutely have to as main bearings are $90 each. The shop I took the crank to turn the mains cause I told them to turn it 10. I was meaning only the rods BUT I did not say only the rods. Expensive mistake on my part. Rods are about $ 68 each. A gasket set and seals are about $60. I have done several of these engines. Dad got the engine running yesterday as he only brought me the engine, not the whole tractor. Kent |

As a suggestion, click on this link.... Manual
Look on page 63. Check your crankcase breather assembly. |

| Yes those parts are expensive. Completely ridiculous. Oil filters are also ridiculous. I can get 3 name brand filters for less than the price of 1 at Kohler dealer. They have check valve and all just like the Kohler. Why do they charge so much? |
