I just bought my 1st Simplicity tractor. Got home, cleaned the tank, put gas in it and it fired right up. Proceeded to till up the garden and it ran great except the engine is tired and it burns oil. The engine model is a 23d briggs. Does anyone know where, if at all, I can get new engine parts or if someone can rebuild these with oversized pistons?

David,
I will give you some advice on the old 23D engine. Call your local Briggs dealer, find out what is still available for that engine. If they don't have the old books or microfiche, they might tell you it is a bad model number, anyway, find out what is avaliable, Briggs is starting to discontinue some the parts for the old cast iron engines, so before you have it bored and such, make sure you can get the parts for it. If you need any help, I have old parts books, old microfiche that will give me the part numbers if you need any help in that line.
Jim

I have one of those engine's on a 31" Toro Grassking rotary mower. I completely rebuilt it in the 1990's. I had our local auto machine shop
to do the machining. The cylinder was bored .020" over size and the crankshaft was ground .020" undersize. At that time they sold B&S engine parts and I bought all the parts from there too. A good B&S dealer can get the parts,
but the prices have really increased. Hal
