Hi all: where is a good place to either purchase or find out the information I need to convert my 13hp Honda from manual to electric start. The engine is mounted and used on my wood splitter and when it's cold it is really hard to pull and start so I have decided to convert the beast to electric. The conversion can either be with new or used parts. Any info is appreciated.. thanks JIM

I had a 10hp rope start Tecumseh on my log splitter. I used my garden tractor's pto pulley
and a long belt to start the Tecumseh engine when it was cold. I also used the tractor for starting my Whirlwind Toro mower. Hal

If its hard to pull over, it probably needs the valves adjusted. If you have to pull it a lot to start it probably needs the main jet in the carburetor cleaned.

If the valves are out of adjustment, an electric starter won't be able to crank it over either. BTDT.

I'm thinking the valves have nothing to do with his problem, most likely its the very cold temps making the oil stiff, I've had a 11 hp Honda for 15+yr and the valves are perfect but starting it in the winter with cold temps is impossible at times, but who knows.

Thanks all for the replies: oil is the problem for sure as in
warmer weather it starts/pulls over much easier ! To add
fuel to this fire my shoulders at 72 are probably most of
the challenge,,,thanks to all

I'm running Mobil 1 5W30 in all my small engines now and it really does let the engine turn more freely in very cold temps.
