Need help identifying the year my new purchase was produced. It is a blue and white colored model with original tires. Also, is the SS14 a somewhat rare bird? Thanks. |

If it is blue and white, it was probably mfg. about 1968 or 69, I can't remember for sure. I have some old catalogs packed away in a storage building that I really need to bring into the house, because my memory ain't what it once was. Did you get any equipment with it? I had a SS12 and with water in the tires and wheel weights and chains it would do a good job of pulling the plow that was available.

Just got the tractor, no tools. Might be going to a parade or two, after finding a front headlamp, and some decals. It will live with a number of 35-90 hp. work and show tractors. Thanks

I have several Surburbans; I wouldn't say the SS14 is any more rare than the other Surburbans. If you are talking about not very many around, I guess one could call them rare, as a lot has been cut up for scrap iron. I have found the Surburbans were as good or better built as the John Deere, Cub Cadets etc. Sears lacked a good dealer network as did the others and that hurt their over all sales of garden tractors. Thats my opinion'

Thanks for your reply. Guess I need to find a list of serial numbers by year of manufacture, and a pic or two of what the decals would look like for the SS14.
