Ive got one of those. Bought new tires for it. Couldnt get the origional size, so these are oversize. Ive givin it to my DD and her hubby. I think its a simplicity VWhat im talking about is older. The pulley comeing out of the engine has 3 or 4 different slots in it.2 of those have belts on them. The inside belt is fastened to a piece of strap iron at the engine and the stap hangs down when not in use at the outside end, under the drive pulley on the axle. There is a V belt on the pulley that runs the length of the strap iron to a pulley at the outside, swinging end. This belt is as tight as one can make it. BOTH belts are turning continually as the engine is running. AT THE OUTSIDE end of the strap iron is a little hole that a cable is affixed to. that cable runs up to a rod then to a knob. When wanting to back up, I throw one of the cast iron levers with a fist sized knob of cast on it forward, causing the pulley attached to the axle to move forward. This releases the tension on the drive belt. THEN I pull the knob with the rod attached to the cable that lifts the outside end of the strap and pulley and V belt up under a 2in flat spot next to the V part on the pulley attached to the rear end. When the back of the V belt below it is pulled up against that flat spot on the axle pulley, it causes the pulley to run clockwise, backing up the axle. Normally, with the engine, it runs counter clockwise. |

| Could you turn the OD of the reverse pulley rims smaller ? If it is steel you could have the grooves welded up and machined so the belt run higher in the groove. |
