Gem magazine had an article on the Mcleans. I have 2 of them on steel. Have seen others some on rubber and some on steel. The earlier models had Maytags on them also the wheels and the drive hub was about the same size but had to be changed because the drive hubs were dragging in the dirt all the time. Briggs were optional engines. In the ad you stated email you but we cannot directly contact you because you have not set up your email to this ad. corner says "NO Email"

My engine is a Maytag model 31, my grandad and I have tried to start it today with no luck. It fires good and has good compression, any ideas on how to get it started or what could be going on. It also looks like everything is orignal even the maytag spark plug. I have always wanted a hit miss engine and I would really like to get it going. Also is there a place to put oil and if so what kind do I need to use.

The Maytag is 2 stroke and needs a fuel-oil mix at 16:1.

Thanks for the mix info. Any advice on how to get it running? It has good compression and fires, but it won"t start up.

you might be having problems if your using straight gas. You mentioned it had the original Maytag plug. Did you take it apart and clean it good with brake cleaner? Maybe try another plug?
