Without knowing mod# of eng, both the briggs magnetron conversion units & aftermarket conversions(megafire,etc)may/may not work on eng, briggs admits on some mod eng the magnetron conversion won't work due to reverse polarity of flywheel magnets or multi magnets on flywheel, check with local mower shop to see if they have info on which mod eng conversion won't work on.The after market units also have the same magnet problem, but if reverse polarity on magnets you can rev connections on module to overcome this problem,if flywheel has multi magnets module may not work,it's something you'll have to take a chance on. Goto link below & type 31-8786 in search & read about module,I've used these modules on several 3-5hp eng with recoil start with good results. |

| Also note, conversion units use orig point style coil,if coil weak, going bad or breaking down from heat then these units may not work or cure a coil problem. |
