My friend is having a problem with his glow plug indicator light staying on for an extended period of time. The ignition switch is newer from a previous problem. Now even though the light stays on the voltage to the glow plugs drops out after one minute. I was told by another source that it should drop out after 30 seconds or less depending on the outside temperature. He is afraid of the damage this could cause to the engine if there is something else is going on. The glowplug controller / relay is new. The glowplugs are the original ones and have never been changed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jack |

| | If the voltage to the glow plugs drops out but the light is on, it would seen that the glow plug circuit is fine. Some of the JD small diesel applications use that light for a second purpose. On my 455, it is also an overheat indicator. So, a bad temperature sensor or a wiring issue could cause it. Check the owners manual and/or tech manual. |

| Just shooting from the hip. I would look for a bad ground or maybe just a bad spade connector. |
