Hi when the pto is not running the arms should stay up for a reasonable time. when the hydraulics are up with a load on are they bobbing up and down( correcting height) a lot? if so it could be a leaky valve or the piston seal or piston bore is damaged or both parts usually.
Those are not uncommon things to find on a super major. the hyd lift system can be a big pain in the butt on these later majors tractors sadly, they are way over complicated to the early and power major.

| Hello Robert , I saw on an older post about serial numbers you had it was broken down by Month and Year , was that a Ford list of serial numbers ? I am looking for a serial number list for Major's and Dexta's that was originally printed by Ford . Do you have one ? Thanks Tony Jacobs

No sorry I don't have an original ford printed list. All I have is an IT shop manual and a Fordson Major history book that lists them.
