Have a 58 Dexta that lift has stopped working. It has been slow to come up in the past but now has stopped and will not come up. Using the guide in manual when the bypass handle was pulled there was no oil at the upper port, but when the lift is removed there is oil coming from pump when the engine turns over. System is serviced full. I am looking for somewhere to start this is my first time working on tractor hydraulics. This has been a great little tractor and want to keep it going. |

| Hi I am no Dexta expert I work on majors, the same thing can happen on super majors. i guess you have some kind of service book, what does it say for an unload valve in the hydraulic top cover, or for flow control valve in the part where you change from aux hyd to the lift arm function, on a major it is called the flow control valve housing or auxilary control valve. The symptoms you have are the same as what the supers do and it may be one or both of those are sticking. does the rear end oil look milky white with water contamination, that causes valves to stick as they get a small amount of rust on them and they are supposed to be a precise fit, I'm not sure what hyd filter a dexta has that may be getting plugged too. | The oil looks good, but tractor has set up for awhile. I will take apart and clean maybe something has stuck. The aux hydraulic valve has no effect when open or closed. I cannot get any flow thru the aux pressure port. I have not gone any further than basic trouble shooting in the IT manual. Thanks for the reply will let you know what I find. |

| Hi Yeah opening or closing the push pull change over knob wont do anything the system is not holding pressure before that knobs part of the circuit. there will be a pressure type valve maybe in the rear top right as you sit on the seat of that knobs housing. and there should be one in the housing that holds the ram piston under the top cover if its like the major one. There should be a main pressure relief valve too i'm thinking, It can take a while to figure it out I had 2 stuck valves on the last super I did :( But now it works perfect:) Regards Robert |

| When I opened up found that the linkage to selector valve was bent. I am sure this has some effect on operation. Also removed pump and found the screen almost blocked not totaly but enough to cause a problem in my opinion. I am going to clean and reseal everything and adjust according to manual. This brings up another issue are the bushings for lift shaft available? There is a fair amount of wear when picking up on lift arms, and bushings need replaced. I don't get as much time to work on as I would like but am moving forward slowly, Thanks for the comments. |
