I have a early ford dexta. Got it running when cold and idle to half throttle it has a surge up in down it dose not idle steady it hunts? In the old Detroit diesels we called this a (roll) in the idle What is the problem how do I fix it

| If youve got a 3 cyl diesel, clean the breather filter in the injector pump. It can get clogged and affect the idle. Also the governor diaphram could have a crack in it. Its located at the rear of the inector pump. Theyre about $15.00. After this clean the air filter and the intake manifold. If this doesnt help you may have pump problems.

| your pump maybe shot, i would change the oil and see what happens before i made a call.
