I'm going to look at the Super Dexta I posted about the other day tomorrow. Seller did get it running today so that I could drive it around. Said it ran good but has a noise in 1st and 2nd gears. Any thoughts on what could be causing this and what it may cost to repair? I'm seriously considering it as an upgrade to my 8N and want to know what I'm getting myself into if I buy it. |

| if you were given $2000 and the tractor and you had to rebulid the engin and put new tires on you would have a high priced tractor that has rust, bad paint, weak trans, poor hydraulics, you can get in a big time mess so look out and don't except much for $500. I found a major for $800 drove it home after cutting it out of the trees and $4000 later i have a fair tractor and i did all the work my self. i was not dispponted because i knew it was a pile of junk because it was in the salvage yard for a reason. if i had to do it over i would buy a better pile of junk to start with. |

| | Is it gas or diesel If gas could be simple as spark plug leads or points If diesel could be more expensive Could also be a valve ?? In terms of transmission, could simply be the detent springs that hold the shifter rods in place
Would advise taking off gearbox cover. and looking in gearbox, would have to drain oil to get a good loook at the gears, to ensure no very worn or broken ones. They are good tractors Kenneth |

| I went and drove the tractor today. It has a noticable miss in the engine and won't stay in 1st or 2nd gears. I was able to start it with the starter thought, didn't have to pull it. The seller is asking 1,000 for the unit as is. Should I take the gamble or take they money and run? |

| It is more important for that price to look at the tires and rims, the fenders, the running boards and the grille. They all get rusted out with age and would cost as much as an engine overhaul. Should be worth $500 for scrap, so you're only gambling $500. |
