Anybody know if the complete engines are interchangable into the respective tractors, Or did the bellhousings change? I have a major diesel with lots of motor problems and am wondering what will fit if i find another motor. |

I was wondering the same thing. I have a FSM that needs a complete rebuild of the engine. The FL cyl head is repairable but expensive. The block has been repaired due to freeze damage but useable. It is not the original engine but a service replacement. I would rather find a FSM engine complete that is a bolt in or in better shape than mine for overhaul. I understand that the FSM had a improved FL cyl head. What other changes/improvements were made in the short block over the years and when? I don't want to buy more problems. Thanks

Yes they will all fit but if it had a single clutch then thats what you will have to put back in etc. MTF

To make a long story short, the bolt pattern didn't change. You can put the complete engine from any version of the Major into any other one, with some small modifications.

as i understand it, you can put any Ford tractor diesel engine into any Ford tractor, from FM through to the TSA series... the bolt holes are all there... did see a photo once of a FSM with a powerstar engine in it.
