I have a 1963 Ford 2000 gas tractor and was wondering if it's OK to use UTF in the rear end gears? I changed the fluids before I realized that I had the wrong manual and just recently discovered that the correct manual calls for 80 wt gear oil in that part of the tractor. The stuff that came out of there was the lighter oil - not heavy gear oil. I've been running this tractor for a decade this way and have not had any problems, so far. What do you think, am I OK with the lighter oil when all I do with this tractor is mow with a finish mower? Do I need to change it out to the heavy, stinky stuff?
