About the colour of your tractor there could be a thousand reasons. So I'm not a lot of help
The bit about them being visible targets is almost true. In fact it was because they were produced at Dagenham, a town on the river Thames estuary and only a few miles from central London. As you will readily see a whole football field sized factory park of bright orange tractors was a beautiful target but also a way marker for the aircraft that were bombing London. Least thats the way I understand it. Incidently I was around then and I honestly can't recall seeing an orange Fordson working in a field. Perhaps all the local guys just up and painted them.
