My Dexta has been sitting for a couple years havent had the time with work to get to play any. Anyway today changed the filters and fluids and got her running. She sounded good ran it alittle. Now my question as I was running her I noticed a little smoke every once in awhile coming out of the tube that comes from the valve cover an runs down beside the motor. What is this and is it normal or is something wrong? Also after changing the oil an filter how can you tell if the oil is getting pumped around? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

This tube that you are describing, is a vent for Blow By from the crank case. This is normal, and nothing to worry about. If you happen to put too much oil in the crank case, the excess oil will be pushed out there, and the engine will find it's own oil level. With out this tube, your engine will build up too much pressure, and you would blow oil seals in the engine. Bruce.

Does it have a pressure gauge for the oil?

If not, hook one up.

Hi Wraiths,

That tube is the vent or breather from the valve cover. Is it puffing smoke out constantly on every revolution of the engine or is it condensation appearing occasionally?

You might pull the valve cover to see if there is fresh oil getting to the valve train.

Someone at www.fordsontractorpages.nl may have more suggestions.

Cheers,

Les
