What does it do when you try to shift into first and third? Grind?
I'll second Old on the adjustment and checking for bent/cracked linkage.
The shudder makes me think it could have some grease or oil on the clutch
disk, depending on how bad it is. Could also be other things.
One of mine has a slight shudder when taking off, but it is so minor I opted
to leave it alone until it needs replacing.
