Alignment tools are pretty much required for any double disc clutch, especially on semis where the splines have to line up with each other.   [Reply]  [No Email]

I never use an alignment tool on single clutches. Just eyeball them for center. Tried that on an easy pedal once. I wasn't long borrowing the alignment tool. It just doesn't work any other way on a twin disc type of setup. I have use the transmission input shaft at times on tractor clutches if I have the shaft out. I do quite often change the front seals if I'm into one that hasn't been touched in a long time. Rod   [Reply]  [No Email]

Install disc and pressure plate, LIGHTLY install pressure plate bolts JUST tight enough to allow you to slide the disc around and yet not allow it to fall. Center the disc to the pressure plate using your fingers, then finish tightening the bolts. It works, and it's fast! Optional tool: 6 or 8 fingers, or 3 or 4 on each hand.   [Reply]  [No Email]
