Should I use a straight weight or a multi-viscosity oil in a gas Ford tractor motor? I'm currently using a straight 30 weight but would like to know what others use. Seams I'm getting a little piston slap upon cold start up and wonder if the multi-viscosity might pump easier at start up, thanks. |

| | yes a multi vis 10w30 or 15w40 will pump easier cold than 30w.. if you have piston slap.. that's a different issue. I agree with hobo.. oil's not yer problem.. you are looking for a bandaid for a broke leg... |

| I seriously doubt oil weight is going to cure your issue... |

| I would use 15W-40 or 10W-30 rotella or delvac. I run the 15W-40 but have everything heated inside in winter. |
