Has anyone done this recently? My uncle bought a Delco 1 wire to replace his generator. This is for a Ford 3000. Is there a bracket or kit he can buy to aide with the install of this alternator? As long as we are on the subject- Will a Delco alternator replace an alternator on a 3600?

Will this mount kit also fit a 3000?

Disregard. I called the number and found out the seller is only a few miles from me. Small world. I also saw the Delco brackets sold here- $39.

Here's the complete mounting kit for $24.95+shipping. Same kit I bought for my NAA.

Some one wires will kick in at low enough RPMs, a lot of times its just the luck of the draw. It's pretty rare that they will cut in as well as a 3 wire but give what you got a try and if it don't work, some 1 wires can be hooked up 3 wire to improve cut in. And if all else fails just change the regulator.

I have a Delco 1-wire on my TO-30 and have never had any trouble with it not charging. Start the tractor and let it warm up for a few minutes. By the time I hop on and give it a little throttle to drive and it starts charging, no need to rev the engine much over idle.

The "kit" I bought included a different size pulley though...

Alan........despite the simplicity approach of the 1-wire alternator conversion, it would NOT be my first choice. Why? 'cuz you haffta jazz yer COLD engine to about 2000-rpms before the internal solid state gutts gitt turned on. Me? I don't like jazzin' a COLD engine, do you?. Yeah, you'll still haffta jazz the HOT engine too. The 3-wire alternator conversion starts chargin' at about 700-rpms. (1/3-throttle?) And besides the 3-wire conversion has an "idiot light" to help determine whether the engine is running. Unfortunately, the idiot lite is also necessary so you can turn the engine OFF. ........Dell, a 12V advocate for the right reasons, who knows 8-ways to convert to 12V and they ALL work the first time

I believe this information is outdated, but that may depend on the alternator.

I purchased a one-wire from DB Electric (who also has the bracket), and it charges from idle on up. No need to rev the engine.

3000 was 12V from the factory. You can let it warm up for a minute or two before you rev it up.

Jerry........yeah-butt, UNLESS you remember to rev it up later (when engine is warmed-up) the 1-wire alternator will STILL NEVER turn-on. And while 12-volt batterys are stout and will continue to start and operate most tractors, eventually you will haffta RECHARGE the 12-volt battery 'stedda' letting the engine run alternator do it. ........nuff said, eh? ........respectfully, Dell

if you can work metal you can hang a delco on anything.. even a bicycle..

it won't have the tach drive the 3000 normally uses.. but WILL charge the battery...

just hook the wire to the battery connection of the old lucas vreg... I'd leave it in place as a wireing point..

1 wire would not be my choice.. 3 wire would.. or even one with the tach drive.. they cost more though..
