Have been working on getting a Ford 600 started. Finally got some other projects out of the way and have a chance to work on it again (since last sept for those of you who helped then). While sitting this winter (not moved since backed off a trailer in June) a crack (almost a dollar sized piece) popped out of the side of the hydraulic manifold. Must've had water in it, not sure why it would crack now when it's been parked outside (previous owner) for at least 10 years. My question.... Is it safe to try to start this with the leak in the hydraulic system. If I'm seeing things correctly the pump is right at the back of the engine and will be live when the engine is running. Will the pump be running dry with this leak???? |

| Not so familiar with the 4 cylinder tractors but if you pull the pump on a 3 cyl and start the engine you will have a lovely 3/16" diameter oil squirt that will puddle oil about 6' away from the tractor. Don't ask me how I know this. |
