I just bought a 2600 (1976)with 1400 hours. It is very nice. This is my first Ford tractor. It has a Bush Hog 3000 loader. The loader is very slow to respond . The loader had been removed from the tractor for about the last 8 years and stored inside a barn. I put it on before i loaded the tractor to take it home. The loader worked fine. I only raised and lowered it a couple times. When i got home and run the tractor for a bit and warmed it up the response time from the loader handles changed dramatically. It is now too slow. Almost not moving at all.The variable lift knob works on the tractor as i checked it by raising and lowering the 3 point. I am not certain where to begin to look to repair the slow movement of the loader. I appreciate any help. Andy

i changed the fluids and filter to no avail. The 3 pt still works as it should and my flow control handle works as it should. i unhooked the hydraulic line at the bypass under the seat and pulled the knob out to send fluid to the loader. nothing. however.. in about 3 minutes, just like the delay in the loaders responce to the handles being activated, the fluid started to trickle out. I do not know what is under the converter mounted plate but it acts like it is plugged or has bad seals. any thoughts? thanks... Andy

When it slows down, check the hydraulic fluid for small bubbles entrained in the fluid. You may have a leaking suction connection, which is easy to fix (but it really screws up hydraulic performance).

Check the fluid level in the rear end, also change the filter.

As you just bought this tractor, the first thing I'd do is change the fluids and filters. Your hydraulic sump could be low, and/or the filter could be plugged. (And now that I've said that... does a 2600 have a hyd. filter? My 4600 does, under the left floorboard.)

It does have a hydraulic filter. I will start with a fluid and filter change this weekend.
Thanks guys.
