Thanks for your help. I went home and by passed the resistor and she fired right up! The alt. kit I used was from this site and it is only putting out about 12 to 13 amps is that correct? And the gauge set I used was from Auto Zone and it goes down instead of up when I crank up the gas. Whats up with that? I got the wagner loader on but not completly hooked up yet. What color were they origionaly? And again thanks to everyone for their help. This site is great and the people on here are wonderful.I tell everybody that asks me something about a tractor to go here. God bless all of you wonderful people. |

| A correctly wired amp gauge should go negative when you crank the engine over for starting and after the engine starts and revs up it should go positive to recharge the battery from the starting process. If your"s is doing otherwise, the ameter leads need switching. This is common on changing from (+) ground 6V generator systems to (-) ground alternaor systems. |

| With out it running when you turn it on which way does the amp gauge go?? It should move just a bit to the discharge direction. If it goes to the charge side then you have it hooked up back wards and you need to switch the wires. As for how many amps if the battery is new or close and has a good charge and the tractor starts easy yes that reading could well be about right. Most automotive type gauges are a ball park type thing not a 100% accurate |

| You might have the wires reversed on the ammeter? |
