I have a 1968 Ford 3400 Industrial and I'm not sure of what to use in the Power Steering Reservoir. I tried Universal Hydraulic Oil. But it seems to foam and gets forced out the top of the reservoir. I think the manual calls for M2C41. Does anyone know of an M2C41 equivalent? Tks. |

| I agree with Soundguy about replacing the filter. If it were mine, I would also drain the oil out of the system and replace with new. Crack one or two of the lines on a cylinder and steer it back and forth till it stops puking oil then tighten the lines back up and add new 134D oil. |

| | I see you didn't do your research. m2c41 has been superceeded by M2C134 spec oils. IE.. utf. if you have foaming.. check that filter and plumbing. who was president when the PS filter was changed last? if you havn't done it.. it was probably nixon... |

| I've done research on this and that's why I am using Universal Hydraulic Oil that is 134D compliant. Thanks for the suggestion on the filter change. |

Thanks to all for the great response. I'm going to do exactly that; Drain, flush, and filter. The other problem that I have right now is that it was -16 this morning and my shop is not heated, and I have to drive 100 miles to get the filter. But I'll git-er-done. |

| Anybody have a good suggestion on how to flush the system? I'm sure I can get it drained, but not sure how to proceed from there. |

| | cheap oil... it doesn't hold much anyway. I'd add a can of seafoam transtune to that flush oil to grab any free water in the system too. |

| Hi. I have been using universal trans/hydraulic fluid in my 1968 3400 without any issues. I have the later model power steering pump with integral reservoir but I doubt it makes much difference. Sounds like there could be an issue with your pump? |
