In the Ford 600 series Shop Manual it shows a special tool in use to adjust the valves in the head. My tractor is a 1955 640. I currently have the gas tank out of the tractor so it will be a great time to check the valve clearance, I just need to know where I can get one of those tools to check the valves and I can button up my 640. Couple years ago I saw the tool in the Snap-on catalog but don't see it now. HELP!!!!!! |

| Thanks to Tom in Tenn, I found that there still actually is the tool I need, Now can I possibly ask anyone who knows, to shoot me a link for a company to get one of those tools from, my fingers can't hold too many things at once and this tool looks easier for me to use. Thank you and again.....HAPPY NEW YEAR to all |

| I just use a wrench and a feeler gauge but if you need a special tool go to Fleabay and search for "valve lash tool" and "valve lash wrench". You'll find lots of possibilities. |

| | I wouldn't know a Ford 600 if it bit me, but, years ago, I worked in a garage where we had a special tool for adjusting valve lash. It was a combination socket wrench and screwdriver. The socket part would loosen the lock nut and the screwdriver part could then be used to adjust the screw. You still needed a feeler gauge to set the clearance, but the combination tool would take care of the nut and the adjusting screw. Might not have anything to do with what you're referring to, but just a thought. Tom in TN |

| Shouldn't need anything more high tech than a feeler gauge. |
