Any one have any information on the little screen that goes on top of the early style 3x9 composite filter. :?: When I took my filter out it didn't have one and so I tried to order one and it unavailable. I won't know what the function of it is unless its to screen the oil if the filter gets clogged and goes to bypass. If anyone has any info I'd appreciate it.
Thanks |

| Thanks Sean, Looks like I'll be going without it. It wasn't there when I pulled the filter so I'll just put it back like it was. New filter of course. |

| It is listed in the parts site as "filter relief valve screen assembly", so it seems like your assumption is correct that it's supposed to screen anything that goes through the relief/bypass of the main filter. The part number is 87790412. It shows as no longer available on any site that I can find that references it. Your only chance would be to start searching the salvage yards. If you keep an eye on your fluid and change it and the filter regularly you should probably be ok without it. |
